New Town’s Solaris Home Collection

Emphasizes Energy Efficiency, Offers New Look

The Denver company that built its reputation on comfort, environmentalism and affordability now introduces a line of models already eliciting comments that New Town Builders has truly “done it again.

Remaining focused on energy efficiency, New Town Builders has created the Solaris collection at Stapleton, and visitors are already describing the three-to-six bedroom homes as among the “most livable” on the market.

The pride of the New Town portfolio are the Berkley and Rosedale models, starting at $445,900 and $455,900 respectively, and now available for viewing. Other models available upon order will start for as little as $392,900.

Standard to the Solaris series is an attached garage with a convenient mud room/laundry center that connects to the main living area. Benches in the mudroom make for handy resting places during the removal of soiled shoes, and space set aside for a clothes rod makes laundry duties easier than ever. Ideal for families, the Solaris models offer anywhere from three to five bedrooms, and anywhere from 1,900 to 2,500 square feet, (or up to 3,300 square feet and a sixth bedroom with finished basement). A simple adjustment to the floor plan allows for the addition of a third full bathroom. Full basements are standard, and the basements of select models come fully finished.

When home-buyers compare the Solaris models to resale homes in the area, the choice will be an easy one. The Solaris models offer features that are nearly impossible to find in resales and equally difficult to retrofit, such as the kitchen island with sink and bookshelves for convenient recipe filing and reference. New Town recognizes that children have their place in the kitchen, too, and the builder designed a cabinet layout that allows easy, lower access to the microwave oven.

Additional design enhancements include pull-out racks in the kitchen cabinets, spacious master bedrooms, more storage space and – here’s a big one – three-zone heating and cooling trunks with a Honeywell control panel and Lennox 92% efficient furnace. Homeowners can add thermostats and dampers at their convenience to complete the zoning and adjust temperature settings in various parts of the home. No discussion of New Town homes would be complete without mention of perhaps the most obviously distinguishing feature that New Town has offered since last April – solar energy systems standard on every new single-family home!

The solar photovoltaic system is sized by plan, elevation, and the home’s orientation; and it generates electricity that ultimately reduces the homeowner’s monthly utility bill by as much as 50 percent. Additional tax credits make the system even more financially attractive – all without an initial capital outlay.

In keeping with that emphasis on energy savings, New Town leads local builders in the construction of homes with Energy Star ratings and the lowest HERS scores, indicating that the Home Energy Rating System allows the least amount of heat to escape in the winter and that the home is sealed for highest energy efficiency. Every home is independently tested. To achieve such distinction, New Town uses Milgard Style Line Low-E windows, with 2×6 studs on exterior walls that allow for greater insulation – in this case, blown-in, mold resistant R20 cellulose. And the Solaris homes offer other energy-efficiencies and environmentally friendly features (such as hot water heaters with timed hot water circulation) too numerous to mention here.
